{"id":7056,"date":"2019-10-11T21:02:25","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T19:02:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/clementicompany.com\/pizza-is-good-for-your-health-science-says-so\/"},"modified":"2024-11-20T10:35:56","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T09:35:56","slug":"pizza-is-good-for-your-health-science-says-so","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/clementicompany.com\/en\/pizza-is-good-for-your-health-science-says-so\/","title":{"rendered":"Pizza is good for your health, science says so"},"content":{"rendered":"&#13;\n<p>Pizza not only tastes good but is also good for your health, says science, or rather research carried out by Silvano Gallus.<\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3803\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clementicompany.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/pizza-fa-bene-alla-salute-800x800.jpg\" alt=\"Pizza is good for your health\"\/><\/figure>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>Together with Dr. Deborah Sangregorio, food consultant and toxicologist, we try to understand its beneficial properties.<\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>But who is Silvano Gallus?<br\/>It is a Dutch-Italian from the Mario Negri Irccs Institute for Pharmacological Research in Milan who has won the IgNobel Prize for Medicine. The IgNobel Prizes are awarded annually in Harvard&#8217;s Sanders Theatre.<br\/>Designed to make people laugh, but then ultimately make them think. <\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p><strong>The 2019 Medicine Prize was awarded specifically to Silvano Gallus.<\/strong><\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3804\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clementicompany.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/silvano_gallus.jpg\" alt=\"sylvan_gallus\"\/><\/figure>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p><strong>His research shows that habitually eating pizza extends life and prevents myocardial infarction and some forms of cancer.<\/strong><\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>His study originated back in 2003, when he began an analysis on the impact of pizza on health.<br\/>The research was conducted on 4,999 people, (2,724 men, 2,275 women), based on their eating habits, sports activity, alcohol consumption and pizza consumption.<br\/> The<strong>results showed that those who habitually consume pizza are less prone to certain types of diseases.<\/strong><\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>However, <strong>pizza must be made in Italy, or at least with Italian methodology.<\/strong><br\/>The real reason why pizza would turn out to have these &#8220;beneficial powers&#8221; lies mainly in the toppings.<\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>Dr. Deborah Sangregorio, especially highlights the <strong>properties of tomato, basil and Evo oil.<\/strong><\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3805\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clementicompany.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/olive-oil.jpg\" alt=\"olive-oil\"\/><\/figure>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>Low in calories <strong>, tomatoes<\/strong> are composed of 93 percent water and are particularly rich in fiber, minerals (potassium in particular, but also manganese, phosphorus, copper, calcium and iron); substances with high antioxidant power (\u03b2-carotene, lycopene, vitamin E); B vitamins, folate, vitamin K and vitamin C.<br\/>It performs many actions that benefit our body as it <strong>decreases cholesterol levels, aids digestion, protects the heart and stimulates diuresis<\/strong>.<\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3806\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clementicompany.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/pomodoro.jpg\" alt=\"tomato\"\/><\/figure>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>In addition, <strong>thanks to lycopene<\/strong>, a powerful antioxidant, tomatoes are considered a <strong>highly protective<\/strong> food <strong>for our bodies against degenerative diseases related to aging processes and reduce the risk of cancer and genetic damage.<\/strong><br\/>The latter, let&#8217;s remember, is absorbed much more when tomatoes are cooked.<\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p><strong>Basil is rich in vitamins, minerals, flavonoids and antioxidants, which are useful in protecting the body from aging and counteracting the action of free radicals.<\/strong><br\/>In addition to this, basil aids digestion and proper functioning of the stomach.<br\/>In order for it to retain its vitamin content at its best, the advice is to consume basil raw.<\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3807\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clementicompany.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/basilico.jpg\" alt=\"basil\"\/><\/figure>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>Basil is about 92 percent water and contains a small amount of protein.
